Use-case assessment
What is this door doing? High-traffic interior, occasional patio access, formal front entry? The use case drives the spec — material, hardware, weight, weather rating.
Interior, patio, sliding, French — door installation across the home. ThermaTru, Bayer Built, and custom configurations specified to the opening and the way you actually use the room.
Most homeowners think of door installation as front-door replacement, but the door category is wider than that. Patio doors, sliding glass doors, interior doors that have warped or sagged, and French doors all fall under the same skill set — careful measurement, proper framing, plumb installation, weatherproofing where applicable.
We approach every door opening as its own project. A patio slider has different demands than an entry door (more glass, more weight, water-tight threshold). An interior door needs proper hinge alignment more than it needs weatherproofing. We size the spec to what the door is doing.
Every project quote is itemized. Here's what tends to be in scope on a typical project.

Rough opening sized, frame condition checked, header verified. Older homes often have settled openings that need shimming or framing work before the new door goes in.
Frame plumbed and squared. Threshold sealed for exterior doors. Interior openings squared to the header so the door swings true.
Door hung on properly-sized hinges, gaps verified consistent on all sides, threshold strike alignment checked. For sliders, track leveled and rollers adjusted.
Locksets, deadbolts, and any specialty hardware installed and tuned. We confirm smooth operation before moving on.
Interior casing reinstalled or replaced. Exterior trim weather-sealed. Caulk lines run clean.
Yes. We replace bedroom, bathroom, closet, and hallway doors regularly. Interior door replacement is usually quick — a few hours per door — but old framing often needs squaring up before the new slab will hang correctly.
Yes. Sliding door replacement is a common job for us. We replace the entire frame and slider together, level the new track, install proper threshold sealing, and verify the door slides smoothly through its full range. Old patio doors often have settled or warped frames that need to be brought back to plumb.
Yes. French doors, Dutch doors, swing doors with sidelights, and custom configurations are all part of our regular work. They typically require longer lead times for ordering and more careful installation than a stock single door, but the scope is the same.
Yes — we've done this several times. A window-to-door conversion involves framing work below the original sill, headers if needed, and matching the exterior siding around the new opening. Quoted separately from a standard door install. We did this on a Maple Grove project recently — converted a window into a sliding patio door with a new deck and stair leading off it.
