Our approach

Find the cause; don't just replace the symptom.

Siding doesn't usually fail because the material wore out. It fails because water got behind it, or because the original install missed something — a flashing detail, a weather barrier overlap, an unsealed penetration. If we just replace the panels without addressing what put them there, the new siding will be facing the same conditions that failed the old.

Every siding replacement starts with diagnosis. Why is the existing siding failing? Where is water getting in? Is the wall sheathing damaged behind the surface? Sometimes the answer is simple — old siding hit its lifespan, replace with modern material — and sometimes it's structural. We'll tell you which one your home is.

What's included

Scope of the work.

Every project quote is itemized. Here's what tends to be in scope on a typical project.

01

Failure diagnosis

We identify what caused the existing siding to fail before quoting the replacement. Cosmetic failure, water damage, structural movement, or just age — different causes drive different scopes.

02

Tear-off & inspection

Old siding stripped to sheathing. Damaged sheathing replaced, water barrier renewed, any rotted framing addressed. This is where unexpected scope sometimes surfaces.

03

Underlayment renewal

House wrap and flashing installed correctly — not just laid over what was there. Properly lapped, sealed at penetrations, and integrated with window and door flashing.

04

Material spec

Choose siding based on the home's architecture, your budget, and how long you plan to be there. Engineered wood, fiber cement, vinyl, or steel — we'll explain trade-offs honestly.

05

New siding install

Installed to manufacturer spec with proper fastener pattern, course alignment, and trim detailing. Matched to existing trim where partial replacement, or fully replaced trim where full replacement.

06

Cleanup & warranty

Site cleaned, debris hauled, manufacturer warranty registered. Workmanship warranty on installation provided in writing.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Specific to this service. The full FAQ covers everything else.

How do I know if I need siding replacement vs. repair?

Replacement makes sense when failures are widespread, when the existing siding is at end-of-life across the whole home, or when the underlying wall has water damage that needs to be addressed. Repair makes sense for localized damage on an otherwise sound siding system. We'll quote both where both are viable.

Can you replace just one side of the house?

Yes, sometimes. If only one elevation has failed (often the south or west side from sun and weather), we can replace that side and leave the rest. The trade-off is matching — new siding will look newer than the surrounding faces for a few years until weathering catches up.

What does siding replacement cost?

Highly variable based on home size, material choice, and whether structural repair is needed. For a typical 2,000–3,000 sq ft home, $18,000–$40,000 is a typical range, with fiber cement and engineered wood at the higher end and vinyl at the lower. We'll itemize the quote.

Can I get insurance to cover siding replacement?

Sometimes — particularly for storm or hail damage. Standard wear-and-tear is generally not covered. If you suspect storm damage caused or contributed to your siding failure, we can document what's there so you can decide whether to notify your insurer.
